Texans re-sign QB Brandon Weeden to 2-year deal

The Houston Texans have re-signed quarterback Brandon Weeden to a two-year, $4 million contract, reports John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Weeden was claimed off waivers by the Texans from the Dallas Cowboys last November. The former Oklahoma State standout played in two games for Houston last season. He won his only start, throwing for 200 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and ran for another score against the Tennessee Titans. He went 11-of-18 for 105 yards and one touchdown in a relief appearance to lead Houston to its first win in Indianapolis against the Colts.

The 32-year-old signal caller also played in four games, making three starts, for the Cowboys in 2015. He threw for 1,043 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions in six appearances. With Houston, Weeden has completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns.

The Texans now have four quarterbacks along with Brock Osweiler, Brian Hoyer and Tom Savage. McClain notes the Texans are expected to trade Hoyer.
